Resolutions, Challenge Me Happy and White with One

I have 2 new layouts for 2 challenge sites where I have yet to play.  This first one is for Challenge Me Happy and they are having a Scraplift challenge.
Here's what I made...

and click here to see the layout by Trina McClune that we were to scraplift!  I just bought the Crate Random collection which is most of what you see here.  The flowers are by Websters and Prima.

This next layout is for White With 1 which was more of a challenge for me than I thought it would be.  It's hard for me not to incorporate more color.  But I used it as an opportunity to dig into my stash.  The color to use with white is lime green and they also ask you to use buttons.
It's really scattered looking and I'm not sure how I feel about this one yet.  You might see a redo of it in the future.

I've been reading scrapbooking and crafting resolutions this week and thought I'd make some for myself.

60 layouts (easy)
12 cards (not easy)
6 altered items (doable)
start an art journal and try more mixed media techniques

I've been interested in art journaling and mixed media for awhile but just wasn't really sure where to start.  But I came across this thing called Creative Jump Start hosted at Nathalie's but I found it at Mandy's blog and knew this was something I needed to check out when I saw what she created with toilet paper of all things.  After looking into it, I realized that I don't need to know how to start but just need to start.  It's not about finished masterpieces but trying new things and finding what works and what doesn't.  So I grabbed an old kids book, put some gesso on it and started.  I hesitate to show what I made as it's not pretty... at all... but here it is.
I did some inking based on Dina Wakely's first prompt at Creative Jump Start, which is to warm up.  She has some really great tips you should sign up and check it out.  Oh and the workshop is FREE!  Anyway, I did something with mists and paint and realized that I need some new paint colors, a lot of new paint colors!  The painted blobs looked like different things to me so I drew in what they looked like, and I can't draw.  I was wondering if this was a complete failure and my DD walked by and asked if she could see what I was doing.  I showed her and she said, "Wow, that's just cool!"  So I wrote what she said on it and look at it as my first experiment and am looking forward to trying more.

Lea, I'm so glad you did this post. I'm doing the Creative Jump Start also and really loving it. I started a journal the first day and am mostly doing the Dina Wakley (I have GOT it get her stamps) idea with the paper scraps. Hope to post some photos soon but will post a TP ATC tomorrow.
Your layouts are fabulous... great work... I MUST stay tuned to your blog.
Hugs to my fellow Jump Starter!!!

Ooooh! I love everything I see here :) I love your take on Trina's layout...those flowers are so pretty! Love the butterfly, too. Your lime green & white layout is precious...love how you changed the colors on the photos, and the frame is perfect. I love the randomness of your art journal...it doesn't have to be "pretty" to still ROCK!! I love it!

Your layouts look fab, as always! Love the butterfly on the top one, and the white and green one is really cool, fresh and different! Gorgeous photo!!! As for your goals, awesome - I'll be watching and egging you on! And I've been following an art journal blog for a while ("a year in the life of an art journal", I think it's called?) but haven't taken the plunge. I looooooove what you did, I think it looks AMAZING!!! Your animals are so cute, can't wait to see more!!!

Don't know why I don't do more white with one pages, I always think they look so stunning! And do I see fussy cutting on the first layout - my hat goes off to you for that!

Great layouts - the first one is my fave! And woohoo on the scrappy resolutions - you can do it! I'd love to do the art journal bit but I haven't got the time with all the layouts I prefer to churn out so I've decided to incorporate a bit of mixed-media into quite a lot of my layouts so I still get to play a little...
